Shipyard Office: Aerial Construction
English
This past weekend our team spent three days at Astillero Punta Morales (our shipyard) building the main office for this project. Until now, our headquarters have been 1.5 hours up the mountain, in Monteverde. While we'll be keeping our Cloud Forest office for the next few months, it's time to bring the paperwork to the beach.
As we see education as key, our volunteer apprentices are now learning to create the shipyards' infrastructures (our new home) from plantation lumber, which we (they) have been felling, sawing, and milling for the past several weeks. -Learning the first and fundamental lesson of renewable resource management.

We asked ourselves:
what's the fastest, cheapest, most beautiful way to build our shipyard office?
Simply: a treehouse. Our co-founder and construction lead, Lynx Guimond, is very experienced at designing and building functional treehouses - in fact, it's kind of his specialty. Scroll down to see a drone video of a treehouse he built here in the Monteverde area. (San Luís)

Previous work in the style of our new shipyard office
(Video.)
This drone video of a previously built treehouse was shot recently by an American university group that visited as part of their architecture studies on sustainable building. It clearly shows the overall style of the construction - however our new office will have working desks and tables instead of an open sitting space. It will be more like the one in the background of the video, with a large open floor.

Build & Lift of our Treehouse roof & floor!
Gallery one: arrival and instigation
Day 1: The entire workforce is on scene by 9AM and gets right to work; The Flying tree sailors team and Cloud forest tree climbers team volunteer their time and expertise to guide the newbies in Lynx's tree house design 4.0... The weather is fine and the atmosphere alegre. the air is charged with the full moons' energy. -and the dream comes to life.
Gallery two: Roof & Floor CONSTRUCTION
Day 2: While paulo leads the floor construction, the roof was lashed together (nautical style) by the sailors, and tin was bent on. by the end of the day we had a finished roof to stand under, while it rained...
Gallery three: up she goes!
Day 3: the roof is up! And the floor is next. We were all very happy with the efficiency and progress.
Roof is up!
Floor to go up in just a few days!
Ultra light and efficient design; weighing under 200 kilos, covering 30 square meters - built in one day (safely, on the ground).
We'll be posting a follow-up blog of completing the floor & other elements next week!
Thanks very much,
